to drop off alcohol and sound equipment. The persons using the sound equipment including a generator at the early part of this year and during last summer have been spoken to and told that should the equipment be used again it will be seized by Police and confiscated. I continue to 'educate' as well as enforce and I am attending Churston Grammar and Brixham Community College on a regular basis, speaking to the children and working with them to improve the situation.
My advice to residents is that if they feel intimidated or threatened in any way whatsoever is to call the Police. We need a full picture on what is happening to apply the appropriate resources. If we don't know about it we can’t deal with it!”
After a break for refreshments the Chairman opened the business meeting.
1. The Minutes
Having been circulated to Committee members and to the members, who were present, the minutes were pronounced a true and accurate record of the proceedings on the proposal of Mrs P Peters, seconded by Mr S Freer. The Chairman signed the minutes.
2. Matters Arising from the Chairman’s Report
The Secretary reported on 3 items. (a) Squires restaurant (Licensing hearing). The hearing had been postponed until the 19th June at 9.30 in the Town Hall. (b) Stagecoach bus Company. Because of the recent route changes the 12A service will no longer come to Broadsands Road. (c) Elbury Pitch and Putt course. Residents were asked to report anything that the Committee should consider.
3. To receive and approve the Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2008. Copies of the Audited accounts had been handed to members on arrival. Mr Edwards said that income had increased and the finances were in ‘good shape’. To cut costs the Association has purchased a printer. It will cover its costs in a short time. The Secretary had waived the honorarium. Mr Edwards also highlighted, out of interest the accounts for the year ended April 1966, copies of which had also been distributed. Mr Edwards also reported that the website had received 1000 hits. The Accounts were accepted, proposed by Mr S Ruffe, seconded by Mrs I Russell.
4. Election of Officers, Treasurer and Committee for 2008 – 2009
Mr Steve Freer was elected Chairman. Proposed by Mrs I Russell Seconded by Mrs C Bustard. There having been no nominations, Mr A Edwards was re-elected as Treasurer and Mrs J Blake as Secretary proposed by Mrs N Edwards and seconded by Mrs P Peters. Mrs P Brown, Mrs P Peters, Mrs G Phillips and Mr B Phillips were elected to another 3 year term of office on the proposal of Mr S Ruffe, seconded Mrs C Brown. No other nominations had been received.
5. Any Other Matters
There were no matters arising.
